          Appeal No. 2002-0638
          Application 08/932,239

the discussion at the middle of page 159 of Macintosh states
that "the scroll box [the scroll bar in a conventional Windows
environment] represents the relative location, in the whole
document, of the portion that can be seen in the window." This
suggests the representation in more than one dimension. Coupled
with the two teachings at the bottom of page 2 of Wagstaff that
the examiner has already pointed out relating to the ability to
change the point of view of a camera window, even to the point of
rotating the point of view as well as animating movement through
a given scene, clearly suggests a scroll bar path as a function
"in N dimensional space" to the extent broadly recited in claim
32 on appeal. It is noted that "N" is even inclusive of one
dimension since the numeric value of the term is not defined in
          this claim.
In view of the foregoing, the decision of the examiner
          rejecting claims 25 and 31-33 under 35 U.S.C. § 103 is affirmed.
