          proportions or lengths of the metal tip sections for given total             
          shaft lengths to obtain desired flex ranges since such                       
          proportions and lengths are shown to be result effective

          (CCPA 1980).  This is especially true in this case since Pompa               
          and Whitaker, by virtue of suggesting the desirability of                    
          decreasing the lengths of the metal tip sections as the overall
