          Application No. 09/002,927

displayed" requires that the received image is displayed.
However, from the use of the transitional phrase "comprising," we
find that the open-ended language of the claim does not require
that the image be displayed exactly as it was received, i.e., as
is. For example, if an image were received in color but
displayed on a black and white screen, the received image is
          still being displayed.
From our review of Furuya, we find that communication means
101 includes a beacon receiver and an antenna connected to the
receiver (col. 3, lines 2-5). The display system further
includes a processor 7 for controlling road map images. The
processor includes graphic display controller 71 which is
connected to display 1 (col. 3, lines 17-24). As shown in figure
2, selector switch 2 allows the user to select one of two
operational modes (col. 2, lines 48-63). In the first, or normal
mode, all roads around the vehicle are displayed, and conditions
of traffic congestion are not displayed. In the second, a
congestion display mode, only monitored roads are displayed with
stepwise graphic gradation indicating degrees of congestion
(col. 2, lines 49-57). For further description in a first
embodiment, the display system is arranged to receive the traffic
information of all monitored roads through beacon receiver 4
