Appeal 2007-0370 Application 09/951,560 1 providing a plurality of orbiting satellites around Earth; 2 providing at least one vehicle for traveling on a roadway, 3 the at least one vehicle including a satellite receiver and a 4 controller; 5 the vehicle receiving positional signals from the satellites 6 as to indicate position of the vehicle on Earth; and 7 the controller determining, based upon (a) a speed at 8 which the vehicle is being driven, and (b) at least one of stored 9 speed limit information or location of the vehicle on Earth, 10 whether to issue or transmit a notification of traffic law 11 infraction so that a traffic ticket can be issued to an owner or 12 driver of the vehicle. 13 14 The prior art relied upon by the Examiner in rejecting the claims on 15 appeal is: 16 Angeloni US 3,680,043 Jul. 25, 1972 17 Horvat US 4,591,823 May 24, 1986 18 Vaughn US 5,485,161 Jan. 16, 1996 19 20 The rejections under review in this appeal are as follows. 21 Claims 1-4, 10, and 12-15 stand rejected under 35 U. S. C. §103(a) 22 over the combination of Horvat and Vaughn. 23 Claims 5-9, 11, and 16-18 stand rejected under 35 U.S.C. §103 as 24 being unpatentable over the combination of Horvat, Vaughn, and Angeloni. 25 DISCUSSION 26 A. Background 27 The Appellant has claimed a traffic monitoring and violation ticketing 28 system.
