Waddoups The invention disclosed in Waddoups encompasses methods for improving the fuel economy properties of an internal combustion engine, the method comprising the steps of adding the disclosed lubricating oil composition to an engine and operating the engine. Waddoups discloses that the lubricating oil composition must have a low phosphorus content, i.e., the phosphorus from the ZDDP compound should be present in an amount up to about 0.1 weight percent.
