The fabric 12 is said to possess a five layered structure, “including two nylon cloth layers, or cloth-like, outer layer[s] 14, 15, two cushioning foam, or foam-like, intermediate layers 16, 17, and a central non- stretchable strand (such as KevlarŪ) inner layer 18.” (Specification 3-4). 4. As shown in Figure 3, the claims each require that the polyethylene layers 16, 17 be symmetrically disposed about the central aramid strand (18). 5. In other words, one of the polyethylene layers is on the front of the central aramid strand and the other is on the back of the central aramid strand. 6. The phrase “symmetrically disposed” is not defined in the Specification. 7. Sacks discloses a protective shield such as a bullet-proof vest. 8. Generally, the fabric of the shield is described as comprising a penetration resistant layer of aramid fibers (such as KevlarŪ) and a backing layer of one or more thin, flexible sheets of semi-stiff impervious plastics material (such as polycarbonate). (Sacks 1:40-46 and 3:45-52). 9.
